2007 Jury Chair
A native of London, this British journalist and author, aged 59 years old, has worked for the Sunday Times for many years. His career as a leading reporter has led him to cover numerous conflicts: Vietnam, East Timor, Eritrea, Congo, Lebanon, Iraq, etc. Jon Swain was portrayed by Julian Sands in the film The Killing Fields (1984). Swain's book River of Time: A Memoir of Vietnam chronicles his experiences from 1970 to 1975 during the war in Indochina, including the fall of Cambodia.
