Sudan: a war behind closed doors

The conflict that broke out in Sudan in 2023 between two factions of the ruling military junta resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of ten million people, in a climate of almost general indifference. 20 years after the war in Darfur, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are cracking down, raising the spectre of genocide. Famine is threatening and the camps of the two opposing generals are being accused of war crimes. Experts, journalists and humanitarians analyse the roots of this neglected conflict.
